Black pawn
It is appropriate that my humble beginnings as a painter should begin with the humble pawn. The foot soldier, the infantry, the man in the mud, doing the leg work and taking commands. In Mongolia the pawn was either carved as a boy or a puppy. This is also fitting.
For now I am following orders and doing my duty as a faithful foot soldier on the march, putting in the leg work, hours and effort towards becoming a better painter….whatever that means. The youthful antics of a puppy or a boy remind me to adjust my mentally towards keeping it light and playful rather then taking it too seriously.
For this next offering the dark pawn is under scrutiny; perhaps too much scrutiny in that I got a bit tight and struggled with the reflections and foreshortening.
