IF_Dusty: pollen dust

OK, this might be stretching it, but I wanted to paint from life again and I had these flowers with the pollen scattering on the petals.Dusty pollen.

As usual I had a few frustrating moments.. the tonalities of the petals the reflections and the high lights and as usual, it needs more work......more contrast I think and so I may pick up the argument again and

I have to say that there was a moment two where I felt in tune with the moment/process and I caught a glimpse of how this painting thing works.

  1. The way you handled the muted feel of the surrounding background communicates dust(y) fairly well; the high key pastel-y look gives it a "gramma" feel. Dusty indeed! The glass looking so fragile helps as well.
nice shift of form in the water too.

  2. I would agree pretty much with Richard. Good form with your petals, diggin the bounce between the oranges in the glass and the red-violets in the flower-

  5. Very pretty, your flower reminds me of the lovely hibiscus in Florida! Love the skull down below too. Thanks for visiting Obsessive Creative!

  7. Nicely done, Alice! This may seem a minor player, but I like how you've rendered the glass and water and reflections.

  8. I think this is great. Lilies are really difficult to render at the best of times. Lovely soft light in the painting. Your chess series is also cool. You have a boldness to your painting that I enjoy. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog! :-)
