IF surrender

Two paintings this week.

the first painting.....I surrendered to pressure form a friend and painted people. This is a portrait of my sister-in-law and my niece. based on picture taken by my sister, who is studying photography.

The second painting is a chess series piece. A surrender/checkmate

  1. Hey!
Why've you held off doing people up to now? I like the faces, especially the little one and the simplicity of the features...Is that you in a previous incarnation?
It's a nice surrender, I'm glad you capitulated to the human form. Now we expect to see more of the same!

  2. It looks beautiful - I've never really studied painting, and have always been envious of people who are good at it :)

  3. Both are great interpretations, you can feel the affection in the portrait. You should do more!

  4. I think these should be two separate posts...
...but, the chess piece piece has a nice, spooky interplay between flat and dimension 2D v 3D really very cool.
the background pieces almost look like ghostly Ankhs... ooooOOOOOooooo

  5. Wonderful Alice! Your people are very nice and you've achieved good flesh tones. It sure hasn't taken you long at all to reach "Rick" speed ... two pieces a week. Did you ever think it would be so much fun?
