IF: the onion peeler

After struggling with the last portrait, this effort was almost effortless. James, my son, sat and peeled onions for me. I requested that he look philosophical/allegorical. The portrait actually looks something like him. He is a handsome fella.

  1. this almost makes me cry!
Edouard is making his presence known in the excellent silhouette, and the play with shape/form.
My favorite things here are the arms, hands, and onions... (esp. that front one)
one of your best... nice work!

  3. Alice, you are amazing! I like how some of your edges are sharp while others are roughened - especially on the shirt sleeve. I agree with John, those onion skins are wonderful. And Rick, as the pastel tones and highlights make the onions luminous. Who's Edouard?

  4. "Perfecto" on the onion peels Alice! I like the blue background against the greens too.

  6. Mardi, I'm refering to Edouard MANET, he's lurking all over this painting, but in a quiet way... It's Alice with a dash of Manet, (and a pinch of Degas).
