IF: Asleep

This was a quickie..but I think that it is done. I know that I need to work on the contrast but I am afraid to work on it any more so I decided to leave it for a while and post it as is.
James really posed for me this time. At the moment, I find painting from life is so much more satisfying then painting using a photo reference.

Man with a funny hat

This was painting from life during  a 3 hour session. it was a lot of fun and I look forward to trying again. next time, I will remember to bring my camera so that I can finish it with a good reference. I had to rely on memory this time and things got tight as got uncertain.

IF: Soaked

I attempted a portrait again and bit off more then I could finish.  I am determined to be able to paint good portraits...but I have  a lot of studying to do.

The idea is that the bab is being soaked by some healthy California sun. I will re-post this after I work on it some more.

Blue Bottles, White Roses

I have been eying the white blooms around town for a couple weeks now and I had to paint them..so I borrowed a stem.

IF: Safari

I am still working in the oils. it seems to be taking me a lot longer to complete a painting. it is difficult to keep the painting fresh because my palatte gets muddy quickly and I am not good about keeping multiple brushes going at the same time.

IF: Beginner

For Illustration Friday the word is beginner...and there is nothing more frightening then a beginner driver.  James had to get in the drivers seat...one of these days i will let him shift out of park.

This painting is still pretty rough. Really. It ain't done yet. I didn't even crop the image. I wanted to show some process.

poppies

I switched to water mixable oil for this week. I was a bit of a struggle and I had a hard time getting t the finish. I am not sure if I am there yet but it is time to move on to the illustration Friday topic.

Peppers

The left overs from the drawing class found their way to my still life table this week. The green pepper was losing its freshness after a couple days.
