A graduation ceremony is a way to launch students towards future pursuits. James graduated last week..i saw it as an opportunity to take a picture of my son wearing a funny hat.
He looks so much older in his ceremonial garb. Congratulations to James (and to you too)! I like the purples you've incorporated into the blue robe. They add a nice liveliness to an otherwise quiet color.
I like the 'chunky' paint application here, it's nice how the background and figure match each other, and I'm glad you've been very democratic in its application... the face gets the same treatment as does the hand, as does the tree, as does the sky. Also nice play with temperature on the blues. ~~was this his graduation present?
Congratulations! He looks very scholarly!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for the topic! My son graduated from high school in May so your painting really caught me. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I think the hat fits your son well.
ReplyDeleteA big milestone for your son! He looks confident. Like the indigo's.
